Are you keeping your New Year’s Resolution?

The number one New Year’s resolution people make is to lose weight. It has been 2 weeks now, so how are things going??  This is the time when people start to hit obstacles with their diets. So many people make the mistake of only eating salad or celery and carrot sticks and don’t understand why they can’t stay on their “diet”.

Winter is here and one of the most important things to do is to eat foods and prepare them in a way to keep you warm inside and satisfied. It is also important so your body can handle the cold weather. Not having enough good quality oil in your diet can cause you to crave hamburgers, french fries, potato chips, cheese and chocolate. So I suggest you add sauteed vegetables to your menu. Saute the vegetables in olive oil with a pinch of sea salt and that will help you with your “fat” cravings.

Remember to eat 3 meals a day at the same times. Breakfast no later than 8:00 a.m.; lunch no later than 1:00 p.m. and dinner no later than 7:00 p.m. If you need a snack to hold you over until lunch, try to eat it around 10:00 a.m. or 3:00 p.m. to hold you until dinner. This will keep your blood sugar level so you don’t get ravenous and eat anything in sight.  If you find you need a snack before bed, you haven’t eaten enough at your meals during the day. It is important not to eat 3 hours prior to going to bed because your body needs time to clean and repair itself at night.

Incorporating these tips will help you achieve your New Year’s Resolution!
